Hungary 2013 stamp honoring Robert Capa

Stamp. Hungary 2013. Born in 1913 in Hungary, Robert Capa (real name Endre Ernő Friedmann) is one of the most influential figures in the world of photography. Throughout his life, he broke new ground in war photography, capturing some of humanity's most dramatic moments through his lens. Capa passed away in 1954, leaving behind an unforgettable legacy. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of his birth in 2013, a 10-stamp sheet was issued to honor Capa's life and photographic contributions. The design of the stamp is based on his 1947 photograph of a woman gathering hay on a farm in Ukraine. Capa also co-founded MAGNUM PHOTOS, an international photographic cooperative, with his friends, driven by a vision to make photography a collective force. Established in 1947, the organization allowed photographers to preserve their independent and creative work while documenting significant events and social changes around the world. Today, Magnum Photos is recognized as a pioneer in documentary, war, and press photography.
