Stamp. Austria 2012. This stamp is part of a special series issued to honor Austrian art of photography. Its design features the work “Stöckl” by renowned fashion, advertising, and portrait photographer Elfie Semotan (b. 1941). The photograph depicted on the stamp is a striking portrait of Austrian television presenter Claudia Stöckl. Stamp. Austria 2014. This stamp was issued to honor contemporary artist Ursula Mayer, who was born in Austria and currently works in London. Mayer is known for her interdisciplinary approach, producing works across various media such as film, photography, and video. The design of the stamp features a scene from Mayer’s film Interiors. In this scene, a detailed view of a sculpture by Barbara Hepworth, one of the leading sculptors of the 20th century, is prominently displayed. Hepworth’s organic forms and modernist aesthetic merge with Mayer’s cinematographic vision, resulting in a composition that is both visually and conceptually powerful.
Stamp. Austria 2017. This stamp is one of the most notable pieces of the Fotokunst Österreich series, issued to honor Austrian art of photography. Its design features the Hochtannberg landscape, photographed in the summer of 1992 by Margherita Spiluttini (1947–2023), an internationally renowned photographer specializing in architectural photography.
Captured in black and white, the image reveals the timeless beauty of Austria’s mountainous nature and the delicate balance between space and light. Produced as a baryta print and laminated on aluminum, the work creates a strong impact both technically and artistically.
Spiluttini was known for her attention to detail and minimalist aesthetic in photographing architectural structures and natural landscapes.
