Such markings indicate that the recipient was expected to pay a specified amount upon receiving the item. Within the Swiss postal system this type of delivery was commonly used for commercial transactions involving photographic prints, press photographs, or other ordered materials. It is therefore possible that the envelope contained photographic prints or images produced for journalistic or personal use.
