Presse Photo Zentrale in Abessinien

Unfortunately, we do not have much information about this envelope. We can only work on possible assumptions. First, we need to understand Abessinien. It is a historical region that today encompasses the territories of Ethiopia and Eritrea. The name Abessinien comes from the region referred to as "Habesh" in ancient Greek and Roman sources. The Abessinien region was the center of the Kingdom of Aksum in ancient times. The Kingdom of Aksum existed from the 1st century BCE to the 10th century CE and held a significant position on trade routes. After this brief information, let's look at the possible details on the cover. Given its name, Presse Photo Zentrale could be a press photography center. Such centers might provide news photographs for newspapers, magazines, and other media organizations. Addis Ababa became an important center for international events and news, particularly from the mid-20th century onwards. In this context, an institution like Presse Photo Zentrale could have played a role in documenting significant events in the region. My research on this cover is ongoing, and I will update this page with any new information I find.
