Foto Fr. Hank: Prague Store Featuring Wellington Photographic Goods

Business stationery used by the company Foto Fr. Hank in Prague Czechoslovakia, photographic store offering Wellington films, plates and papers. The company Wellington (earlier Wellington & Ward, of Elstree, Herts) was named after its owner James Booker Blakemore Wellington (1858 -1939), aka J.B.B. In the 1880s, Wellington collaborated with George Eastman of the Kodak Company in the United States. Wellington & Ward specialized in the production of photographic plates, films, and papers. In 1894, Wellington left Elliott and Sons in Barnet and, together with his brother-in-law H.H. Ward, established the Wellington and Ward company in Borehamwood. John Wellington served as the scientific and technical director of the company. The firm operated successfully until it became part of the Ilford Group in the 1930s and continued its operations until 1933. Wellington & Ward played a significant role in the world of photography during its time.
