Paris’in 20. bölgesindeki “47, Rue des Rigoles” adresinde faaliyet gösteren PHOTO-REP firmasına ait bu antetli posta kartı, firmanın uzmanlık alanı ve ticari faaliyetleri hakkında önemli ipuçları sunmaktadır. Firma, “Mécanique de Précision – Réparation d’Appareils Photographiques de Toutes Marques” (Hassas Mekanik – Tüm markalara ait fotoğraf makinelerinin tamiri) alanında uzmanlaşmış teknik bir atölyedir. Kartın sol alt köşesinde, “Marque Déposée” (tescilli marka) ibaresiyle birlikte ALVA damgası yer almaktadır. Bu, firmanın ürün veya hizmet kalitesini temsil etmek amacıyla tescilli bir marka kullandığını göstermektedir.
Kartın alıcı bölümünde isim tam olarak okunamasa da, ilk olarak Castanet (Haute-Garonne) adresine gönderilmek istendiği anlaşılmaktadır. Ancak bu adres sonradan çizilerek Monvalent par Martel (Lot bölgesi) olarak düzeltilmiştir. Bu durum, alıcının adresinde son anda bir değişiklik yapıldığını ya da kartın yanlış yere gönderilmesinin önüne geçildiğini düşündürmektedir.
Kartın esas dikkat çeken yönü ise arka yüzüdür. Burada, PHOTO-REP firmasının tanıttığı ALVA markalı senkronize flaş cihazına ait bir reklam metni yer almaktadır. Alva markasına ait bu senkronize flaş sistemleri, Photo-Rep firması tarafından 1930’lu yıllardan 1950’li yıllara kadar üretilmiştir.
Arka yüzdeki metne göre; ALVA markalı flaş düzeneği, hem stüdyo tipi hem de haber amaçlı kullanılan tüm fotoğraf makinelerine, arka ya da ön deklanşörle senkronize şekilde monte edilebilmektedir. Cihaz, anında kullanıma hazır hâle gelirken, flaşın çalışmama riski ortadan kaldırılmıştır. Altı farklı flaş efekti sunabilen sistem, katlanabilir reflektöre sahip olup, piyasada yaygın olarak bulunan standart 4.5V pillerle çalışmaktadır. Ampuller ve reflektör hariç tutulduğunda cihazın boyutları 7,5 × 8 × 9 cm olarak belirtilmiştir.
Reklamın sonunda, müşterilere kendi fotoğraf makinelerinin markasını ve istedikleri montaj türünü belirterek firmadan fiyat teklifi talep etmeleri çağrısı yapılmaktadır.

Kartın dili ve anlatım tarzı, 1930’lu yıllarda teknolojik ürünlerin nasıl tanıtıldığını da ortaya koymaktadır. Teknik ayrıntılara hâkim, sade ve doğrudan bir üslup benimsenmiş; bu da hem profesyonel hem de amatör kullanıcı kitlesine hitap edecek şekilde kurgulanmıştır. Özellikle “Demandez-nous devis…” (Fiyat teklifi isteyiniz…) ifadesi, dönemin küçük işletmelerinin müşterileriyle doğrudan ve samimi bir ilişki kurduğunu yansıtmaktadır.
Not 2: Kart üzerinde yer alan “Utilisez la Poste Aérienne” (Hava postasını kullanın) ifadesi, Fransız posta idaresinin hava yoluyla gönderimi teşvik ettiğini göstermektedir. Ancak bu özel durumda kartın hava yoluyla değil, kara yoluyla gönderildiği düşünülmektedir; çünkü Paris’ten güneybatı Fransa’daki Lot bölgesine olan mesafe hava yolunu gerektirecek kadar uzun değildir.

This letterhead postcard belongs to the PHOTO-REP company, located at 47, Rue des Rigoles in the 20th arrondissement of Paris. The company specialized in "Mécanique de Précision – Réparation d’Appareils Photographiques de Toutes Marques" (Precision Mechanics – Repair of Photographic Devices of All Brands), operating as a technical workshop that handled repairs for cameras of all makes. In the lower left corner of the card, we see the ALVA stamp accompanied by the phrase "Marque Déposée" (registered trademark), indicating that the company used a trademark to represent the quality of its products or services.
The recipient’s name on the card is not clearly legible, but it initially appears to have been addressed to Castanet (Haute-Garonne). However, this address was later crossed out and corrected to Monvalent par Martel (Lot region). This suggests either a last-minute change in the recipient’s address or an attempt to prevent a misdelivery
What truly draws our attention is the back of the postcard. This side features an advertising message for the ALVAsynchronized flash device, promoted by PHOTO-REP. ALVA synchronized flash units were manufactured by Photo-Rep from the 1930s to the 1950s.
According to the text on the back, the ALVA flash unit could be mounted and synchronized with both studio and reportage cameras, regardless of whether they had a front or rear shutter. The device was ready for instant use and designed to eliminate flash failures. It offered six different flash effects, featured a foldable reflector, and worked with standard, widely available 4.5V batteries. Excluding bulbs and reflector, the device’s dimensions are listed as 7.5 × 8 × 9 cm.
At the end of the advertisement, potential customers are invited to request a price quote by specifying their camera’s brand and the type of mounting they require.

The phrase “Utilisez la Poste Aérienne” (“Use airmail”) printed on the card shows the French postal service’s effort to encourage air delivery. However, in this case, the card was likely sent by land rather than by air, as the distance from Paris to the Lot region in southwestern France would not have necessitated airmail.
